[EN] Château d'Havré is one of many castles in province of Hainaut (Belgium) which remembers the long history of this region. The origins of the castle can be tracked back to the year 1226; however there are some sources that counts of Flanders and Hainaut have had control over Havre since the XI century.

Castle through years passed from one family to another; usually it happened because of marriage, so it belongs to Dunan’s, Longeville’s and Croy’s families. Since the beginning of XIX century castle was gradually abandoned. Due to negligence it transformed into ruins in XX century. From beginning of ’80 last century there is a society which takes care about castle, or that what left.

I visit this place many times, because it is a few kilometers from my home, last time I even walk there. Pictures present current state of this castle, and the last one is the graphic presenting it in his golden age.
