Beer Presentation #5 - What kind of beer the Belgians drinks most often?

Answer for such question is easy Belgians drinks Belgian beer the most. To be honest not Belgian style beer like one Chimay Triple / Blanche or Straffe Hendrik Brugs Quadrupel presented recently. But the best selling beers in Belgium are Jupiler and Maes.

Maes is typical pilsner, described by producer Brouwerijen Alken-Maes (Heineken) as "a beer with character. A beer with name and reputation. And a beer where the refined bitterness and full flavour ensures a pleasant refreshment. That is Maes Pils. Brewed with extra malt and Saaz-hop Maes Pils is the perfect partner-in-crime during memorable moments with your best friends!"

I drank them once or twice, without any excitement, a typical mass production pils. This blonde beer has a wheat colour topped by a white foam that lingers in the glass, it has enough gas and a very slight aroma and a very soft and light taste only perceived by its bitter touch and its slight memory of wheat.

Jupiler is similar style as Maes, but is described as pale lager. Beer is brewed or better would be name it produced in Brasserie Piedboeuf (InBev) they describe "Jupiler is the leading and most popular beer brand in Belgium. It is the brand celebrating male complicity in all bonding occasions as no one else does. Spirit of courage, self-confidence and adventures are key attributes of the brand. Jupiler is also the number one beer of all Belgian supporters."

Jupiler is typical blond beer from for barbecue or watch a football match with friends. And in such occasions I drank it couple times, pours a straw yellow with an initial frothy head, aroma of yeast and grain, slightly malty taste.

In conclusion, if you looking for beer to drink during watching a sport competitions or you making a barbecue for friends you probably chose one of those two instead of heavy Belgian Ales. I don't rate those beers because it should be under the scale :).

As usually I hope you enjoyed my short presentation.
