Beer Presentation #3 - Chimay Triple / Blanche (Belgium)
We could say third time lucky, because it is highest time to present Belgian Trappist style beer. My today's choice is:
Chimay Triple / Blanche

Chimay beer is brewed within the walls of a Trappist abbey, under monks control and responsibility, monks are involved through the whole process of making and marketing the beer.
Style of this beer: Abbey Tripel - it is strong, yeasty-malty beer. some beers are also pale, and they have a notable hop profile. In Abbey Triples hop bitterness may be higher than in typical abbey ale, up to 45 IBU.
COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Chimay Tripel, with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer’s flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast.
I think Chimay is one of the famous Belgian Triples, you could find it easy in many shops around the world.
How I noted Chimay Triple / Blanche?
8% ABV, golden color, slightly opalescent, fine dense and quite stiff foam, high, nicely caked. Intense aromas of malts and phenols, delicately white fruits and dried dates, wheat in the background. In the taste of spices, red pepper and malts, quite intense slightly aggressive hop bitterness. Balance for yeast flavors. In the dry sense, the alcohol is quite well hidden. A solid tripel with bold impregnation.
In my opinion in scale from 1 to 10, it is:
7.2
Chimay is one of my favourite Belgian beers, monks produce also cheese which is delicious too.
I hope you enjoyed my first presentation.
