Wygląda na to, że tydzień bez odwiedzenia Sambre może być tygodniem straconym. Ta niewielka rzeka wijąca się na południu Belgi wydaje się przywoływać mnie i zapraszać do eksploracji. Dziś było podobnie, tym razem zabrałem ze sobą kolegę, dla niego było to odkrycie, ale region mu się bardzo spodobał. A to tylko 20 minut jazdy samochodem od Mons.

[ENG] It seems that a week without visiting the Sambre river could be a week lost. This small river that meanders through the south of Belgium seems to beckon me and invite me to explore. Today was no different, this time I took a friend with me, for him it was a new discovery but he liked the region very much. And it's only a 20-minute drive from Mons.

W Solre-sur-Sambre po kładce na śluzie przeszliśmy na drugą stronę rzeki w kierunku zamku, przypadkowo trafiła się okazja popróbować winogron rosnących na domu przy ścieżce. Były słodkie i soczyste, ale przecież nie rosły dziko, tylko na czyimś domu, dlatego ograniczyliśmy się do spróbowania po dwie sztuki. Smak pozostał jednak przez długi czas.

[ENG] In Solre-sur-Sambre we crossed the river on a footbridge over a sluice in the direction of the castle, and by chance, we had a chance to try some grapes growing on a house by the path. They were sweet and juicy, but after all, they did not grow wild, but on someone's house, so we limited ourselves to tasting two pieces each. However, the taste remained for a long time.

Château-Fort de Solre-sur-Sambre pojawiało się już wielokrotnie w moich relacjach ze spacerów w tym regionie. Trzynastowieczna twierdza jest w doskonałym stanie, bynajmniej tak wygląda z zewnątrz, niewielki zamek zbudowano na planie czworoboku z czterema wieżami na każdym rogu, całość kamiennej budowli otacza szeroka fosa. Forteca należała kolejno do rodów Barbençon, Carondelet, Mérode i Wignacourt. Szkoda, że obecni właściciele Książę i Księżna Amaury de Merode nie udostępniają jej do zwiedzania, w ich ocenie jest mało interesujący dla zwiedzających, bo zamek jest nieumeblowany, a jego wnętrza są mało interesujące. Myślę, że wielu byłoby innego zdania.

[ENG] Château-Fort de Solre-sur-Sambre has appeared many times before in my reports of walks in this region. The thirteenth-century fortress is in excellent condition, to say the least from the outside, a small castle built on a quadrilateral plan with four towers at each corner, the whole stone building is surrounded by a wide moat. The fortress belonged successively to the families of Barbençon, Carondelet, Mérode and Wignacourt. It is a pity that the current owners, the Duke and Duchess Amaury de Merode, do not make it accessible to the public, in their opinion, it is of little interest to visitors, as the castle is unfurnished and its interiors are of little interest. I think many would be of a different opinion.

Wąską ścieżką prowadzącą po dawnym torowisku oddaliliśmy się od rzeki i doszliśmy do kolejnej starej wioski Hantes-Wihéries, jej historia sięga IX wieku. Wioska poprzecinana jest wysokimi kamiennymi murami, które strzegą dostępu do znajdujących się za nimi gospodarstwami, te murki rozdzielają pola, ale w taki sposób, że jest między nimi około metrowy odstęp, gdzie można spacerować jak w labiryncie.

[ENG] We followed a narrow path along a former railway track away from the river and came to another old village, Hantes-Wihéries, its history dating back to the 9th century. The village is crisscrossed by high stone walls that guard access to the farms behind them, these walls divide the fields but in such a way that there is a gap of about a metre between them where you can walk like in a labyrinth.

Idąc dalej kierowaliśmy się w stronę rzeki przy okazji odkryliśmy Carrière de l'imaginaire. Wspaniałe miejsce, które w ocenie mojego kolegi przypominało skałki w Ojcowskim Parku Narodowym. Teren jest prywatny i droga prowadząca do tego miejsca, była zagrodzona bramą z tabliczką zakazującą wstępu, ale obok tej bramy była wydeptana ścieżka, więc zlekceważyliśmy zakaz i tam weszliśmy. Bardzo ciekawe miejsce, jak się okazało nie tylko my zignorowaliśmy zakaz, bo spotkaliśmy tam biegacza, który ćwiczył podbiegi na stromych ścieżkach.

[ENG] As we continued walking towards the river we discovered the Carrière de l'imaginaire. A wonderful place, which in the opinion of my colleague resembled the rocks in the Ojców National Park. The area is private and the road leading to this place was fenced with a gate with a sign prohibiting entry, but next to this gate there was a trodden path, so we disregarded the prohibition and went there. Very interesting place, as it turned out we were not the only ones who ignored the ban, because we met a runner there, who was practising running up the steep path.

Skierowaliśmy się w kierunku skąd przybiegł ten biegacz i okazało się, że na wejściu od strony Labuissière żadnego zakazu wstępu nie ma. Naszą uwagę zwrócił niewielki bar przy śluzie, w tym samym momencie nabraliśmy ochotę na zimne piwko, niestety pechowo lokal nie odsługiwał kart, a my nie mieliśmy gotówki. Niesmaczni ruszyliśmy w stronę powrotną do miejsca startu, tym razem wzdłuż rzeki.

[ENG] We went in the direction where the runner had come from and it turned out that there was no entry ban on the entrance from the Labuissière side. Our attention was drawn to a small bar near the sluice, at that very moment we felt like having a cold beer, but unfortunately, the place didn't accept cards and we didn't have any cash. Unhappy, we headed back to the starting point, this time along the river.

Tradycyjne koza siedziała na dachu szopy. Za każdym razem jak tamtędy przechodziłem to ona tam siedziała. Po drugiej stronie rzeki jest rezerwat naturalny Labuissière, zastanawiało nas czy te stado koni było dzikie, czy może ktoś je tam wypasał. Teren jest generalnie trudno dostępny i otaczają go mokradła.

[ENG] The traditional goat was sitting on the roof of the shed. Every time I passed by it was sitting there. On the other side of the river is the Labuissière natural reserve, and we wondered if this herd of horses was wild, or if someone had grazed them there. The area is generally difficult to access and is surrounded by wetlands.
