Daily Raport... [PL] instalacja artystyczna "Pasażer" / [EN] artistic installation "Passenger"

Wczoraj zrobiłem sobie wolne od aktywności sportowej, przede wszystkim z racji tego, że mieliśmy z żoną zaplanowane wcześniej zakupy w przygranicznym Valenciennes. Zazwyczaj jedziemy tam na zakupy, gdy jest promocja na wodę, i bez promocji woda butelkowana jest zdecydowanie tańsza we Francji niż w Belgii, a oferta 2+1 gratis jest szczególnie korzystna. Kupujemy wtedy zapas wody na kilka tygodni, żeby wystarczyło do kolejnej promocji. Przy okazji robimy również zakupy spożywcze, ale to woda jest głównym celem takich wypraw.

ENG Yesterday I made rest day from sporting activities, mainly because my wife and I had previously planned shopping trip to border town of Valenciennes. Usually we go there for shopping, when there is a promotion on water, without promotion bottled water is definitely cheaper in France than in Belgium, so the offer 2+1 free is particularly advantageous. Then we buy a supply of water for a few weeks to be enough till the next promotion. When we are there, we also do grocery shopping, but water is the main purpose of our expeditions.

Po powrocie z Francji wyszliśmy jeszcze na spacer do Mons, po drodze zaszliśmy do jednego z supermarketów, gdzie zauważyłem ciekawe wykorzystanie puszek piwa Jupiler. Według wielu rankingów jest to najpopularniejsze piwo sprzedawane w Belgii, jest ono również jednym z najtańszych, stąd najprawdopodobniej jego popularność. Piwo to nie ma nic wspólnego ze słynnymi piwami belgijskimi, jest to lager jakich pełno również w polskich sklepach. Piwo zdecydowanie nie w moim guście, dlatego rozbawił mnie pomysł wykorzystania tych puszek do ekspozycji skrzynek z klementynkami.

ENG After returning from France, we went for a walk to city centre, on our way we step in to the supermarkets, where I noticed an interesting use of Jupiler beer cans. According to many rankings, this is the most popular beer sold in Belgium, and it is also one of the cheapest, which is probably why it is so popular. This beer has nothing to do with the famous Belgian trapist beers, it is a simply lager which you can bay in every shop. Beer is definitely not in my taste, so I was amused by the idea of using these cans to expose boxes with clementines.

Poniżej wieża kościoła Świętej Elżbiety w Mons na tle drewnianej instalacji artystycznej "Pasażer" autorstwa Arne Quinze. Autor po latach zawirowań idąc śladami Van Gogha i Verlaine powrócił do Mons. Pierwotnie instalacja miała uświetnić obchody Europejskiej Stolicy Kultury w 2015 roku, ale po kilku tygodniach instalacja zawaliła się. Artysta nie poddał się, wyciągnął wnioski i w połowie października 2015 roku drewniana instalacja "Pasażer" przypominająca rozsypane pudełko dużych zapałek został oficjalnie odsłonieta nad jedną z ulic prowadzących do Grand Place. Od tamtego czasu instalacja wrosła w krajobraz miasta i trudno będzie sobie wyobrazić jak będzie wyglądać te miejsce za rok, kiedy planowana jest rozbiórka tej instalacji artystycznej.

ENG Below you see tower of St. Elizabeth's Church in Mons through wooden artistic installation "Passenger" by Arne Quinze. After years of turbulence, the author, following in the footsteps of Van Gogh and Verlaine, returned to Mons. Originally, the installation was supposed to add splendour to the celebrations of the European Capital of Culture in 2015, first installation after a few weeks collapsed. The artist did not give up, he made lessons learned and in mid-October 2015 the wooden installation "Passenger" resembling a scattered box of large matches was officially unveiled over Rue Nimy street leading to the Grand Place. Since then, the installation has grown into urban landscape and it will be difficult to imagine how this place will look like next year, when the demolition of this artistic installation is planned.
