Daily Raport... [PL] Święto Niepodległości / [EN] Remembrance Day.

Wczorajszego dnia nie mogę zaliczyć do najbardziej aktywnych, a wszystko za sprawą załamania pogody. Po dwóch dniach treningów biegowych i tak planowałem spokojniejszy dzień, ale nie oznaczało to, że chcę go przesiedzieć na kanapie przed telewizorem. Chciałem choć na chwilę wyjść na spacer, w planach miałem oddanie czci poległym żołnierzom.

ENG Yesterday I can't count as one of the most active days, and it's all due to the breakdown of the weather. After two days of running training I planned a calmer day anyway, but it didn't mean I wanted to sit on the sofa in front of the TV. I wanted to go for a walk at least for a moment, I planned to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers.

Wczoraj był też bardzo ważny dzień dla polskiej historii, 11 listopada obchodzimy w Polsce rocznicę odzyskania niepodległości po 123 latach, kiedy to nasi więksi i silniejsi sąsiedzi dokonali rozbioru Polski, dzieląc miedzy siebie polskie terytorium i wprowadzając na tych terenach swoje rządy. Zaborcy przez lata wkładali ogromny wysiłek, żeby wymazać Polskę na zawsze z mapy Europy, ale nie udało się im wymazać polskości z serc Polaków, którzy wielokrotnie podejmowali nieudane próby powstań przeciwko zaborcom, dopiero zakończenie I wojny światowej i związane z tym nowe porządki na europejskiej mapie umożliwiło odrodzenie państwa Polskiego.

ENG Yesterday was also a very important day for Polish history. 11 November in Poland is the anniversary of regaining independence, after 123 years, when our larger and stronger neighbours partitioned Poland, dividing Polish territory among themselves and introducing their own rules in these areas. Over the years, the Partitioners have made a great effort to erase Poland from the map of Europe forever, but they have not succeeded in erasing Polish identity from the hearts of Poles, who have repeatedly make attempts at insurrection against the Partitioners. End of the First World War gives Poles opportunities to revive the Polish state as independent country.

Dla państw Ententy jest to Dzień Pamięci lub Dzień Weterana, tego dnia na pamiątkę podpisania rozejmu o godzinie 11 oddawana jest cześć poległym w formie dwóch minut ciszy. W Belgii gdzie obecnie mieszkam znajduje się wiele miejsc pamięci poświęconych poległym w I wojnie światowej żołnierzy, każdego roku w dniu 11 listopada cmentarze wojenne są licznie odwiedzane. Ja również planowałem dziś odwiedzić położony niedaleko międzynarodowy cmentarz w Saint-Symphorien, gdzie obok siebie leżą niemieccy i brytyjscy żołnierze polegli w wielkiej wojnie. Jednakże pogoda pokrzyżowała moje plany, dopiero po południu na chwilę przestało padać, co wykorzystaliśmy z żoną na krótki wspólny spacer, ale na cmentarz nie dotarliśmy. ENG For Western countries, it is a Remembrance Day or Veteran's Day, that day at 11am, the victims are worshipped in the form of two minutes of silence. In Belgium, where I live today, there are many memorial sites dedicated to soldiers fallen in World War I. Every year on November 11th, the war cemeteries are visited in large numbers to pay respect to the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty. I also planned to visit the nearby international cemetery in Saint-Symphorien, where German and British soldiers who died in the Great War lie next to each other. However, the weather thwarted my plans, and only in the afternoon did it stop raining for a while, which my wife and I used for a short walk together, but we did not reach the cemetery.
