[EN] Today I made an interesting discovery on my walk, I walked or cycled around that square many times, and only today I noticed that the monument standing there was erected to commemorate the victims of the American 1st Infantry Division, the famous "The Big Red One", which fought with Germans also in southern Belgium and of course around Mons. Interesting is the coincidence that accompanied this event, just yesterday evening I recalled the film "The Big Red One" from Lee Marvin, and today such a discovery.

[PL] Dziś na spacerze dokonałem ciekawego odkrycia, wiele razy chodziłem lub jeździłem przy tamtym placu, a dopiero dziś zauważyłem, że stojącym tam pomnik został postawiony dla upamiętnienia ofiar amerykańskiej 1 Dywizji Piechoty, czyli słynnej "wielkiej czerwonej jedynki", która walczyła z Niemcami również w południowej Belgii. Ciekawy jest zbieg okoliczności jaki towarzyszył temu zdarzeniu, akurat wczoraj wieczorem przypomniałem sobie film "Wielka czerwona jedynka" z Lee Marvin, a dzisiaj takie odkrycie.
